Jaaaaaay kaaaaaaay I really enjoyed it!

My political prediction history is almost as bad as my stock picking history, but there was one I made about four years ago I wish I had the receipts for.

I remember thinking it was inevitable that somehow, someway, Elon musk would become president.

And I feel like my prediction came true for like three months!

I'm very curious about your thoughts on Elon and/or a third party during this moment of broad resentment and appetite for change.

Haha yeah you were as close to right as constitutionally possible. And predicting things is really hard...this post will prob wrong in ways that look obvious in a year or two. Hmm so yeah, I think Elon is correct that there are a ton of voters dissatisfied with the two parties. But I'm not sure Elon's specific political views and material interests, based on what he posts, translate into a party that can offer a popular or coherent vision. He also has made himself personally pretty polarizing over the past year, so anyone running on his party line would have to contend with that.

Always a great analysis, Russ. Do you think whoever is really interested needs to wait until after the midterms in order to avoid getting trashed talked by Trump?

Thanks for reading, as always. :) Three points: I'm not sure voters will - or should - care much pre midterms (attention and money should go to those key senate races). I also am not sure that jumping in early gives a candidate an advantage (hard to sustain attention for two years!). Finally, that said, I think a few on this list are already "pre-running," doing a lot of media, podcasts, etc. :)

I’d love to see Pritzker move up that list. Your article got it right, but I’m also bothered by all the labels the right is using. Obfuscation. I wrote about it today in case you’re interested: https://shalyn8.substack.com/p/the-s-word-labeling-of-the-left

gavin newsom is a nasty and fancy lil ghoul who hasn't had a regular conversation or a regular non-michelin meal in years. i have to think voters will be able to sense that.
